Questions

Everything people ask.

The short version of this list is on the front page. This is the whole thing.

Paying and licences
Is any of this a subscription?

No. Every app is a one-time purchase with free updates. The bundle is one payment of $35 for all three. There is nothing to cancel because nothing renews.

What does one licence cover?

Each licence is for your personal use on up to 2 Macs. Your account lists every licence you own and how many seats are in use. Sign in inside the app on a second Mac and it takes the second seat by itself.

Can I pay without a card?

Yes. Paddle, our reseller, takes cards, PayPal, Apple Pay and Google Pay. There is also a crypto option in the same checkout window, which issues an invoice and activates your licence when the payment confirms.

Do you do refunds?

Email contact@crestnotch.app within 14 days of your purchase and you get your money back, no hassle. Crest has a free tier and all three apps have a 7-day trial, so please ask in good faith. It covers every app and the bundle, and the full policy is on the legal page.

I paid and nothing arrived. What now?

Buying creates your account and sends one link that sets your password. Check spam first, because that one email is the whole handoff. If it is not there, write to contact@crestnotch.app from the address you paid with and it gets fixed by hand, usually the same day.

Where is my receipt, or an invoice for my company?

Paddle, our reseller, emails the receipt to the address you paid with as soon as the payment goes through, with the tax shown. If you need an invoice with a company name, address or VAT number, write to contact@crestnotch.app from that address with the details, and it gets sorted by hand.

Your account
Do I need an account?

Not to download any of the apps, and not for Crest's free tier. You sign in inside the app when you start a trial or when you buy, because licences live on your email and signing in is what unlocks them. A purchase makes the account for you, on the email you pay with.

I never got the confirmation email.

Check spam, then use the resend link on the account page. Confirmation links are good for 24 hours. If the address had a typo, sign up again with the right one: an unconfirmed account can be replaced safely.

I forgot my password.

Use the forgotten-password link on the account page. The reset email goes to your address, and the reply you see is deliberately the same whether or not an account exists, so nobody can use that form to find out who has one.

Can I move a licence to a new Mac?

Yes. Sign in inside the app on the new Mac and it activates. If both seats are already used, write to contact@crestnotch.app and the old seat gets released.

I already own Crest Pro. What changes?

Nothing. Your key keeps working forever. Sign in with the email you bought with and it appears in your account next to anything new you pick up.

Installing and running
Which Macs do I need?

Crest runs on any Mac on macOS 14 or later: on a MacBook with a notch it lives in the notch, and on any other screen it sits in a small pill at the top. Take runs on any Mac on macOS 14 or later. Minutes requires macOS 26 on Apple Silicon, because its transcription and summarization use Apple's built-in models.

macOS will not open the app. What is wrong?

All three apps are signed and notarized by Apple, so the usual right-click-to-open workaround should not be needed. If macOS still refuses, the download was probably interrupted: delete it, empty the Trash and download again. If it happens twice, write in and say which macOS you are on.

Why is Crest asking for permissions?

Only for the module you are using, and each request says so in the dialog. Calendar for your next meeting and the one-tap join. Reminders for todos. Bluetooth for device batteries. The microphone for the pre-meeting mic check and the teleprompter's follow-my-voice scrolling. The camera for the pre-meeting camera check. Deny any of them and that one module goes quiet, while the rest keeps working.

Does it really work offline?

Yes. You need internet once, to activate. After that every feature runs offline. Minutes never sends audio or text anywhere, online or not: transcription and summaries run on Apple's on-device models.

How do updates work?

Each app checks for its own updates and can install in place, and every app's settings has a Check for updates button. Updates are free for the life of the app you bought.

How do I uninstall?

Quit the app and drag it from Applications to the Trash. Your files stay where they are: recordings are .mov files in your Movies folder and meeting notes are Markdown in their own folder, both readable without any of our software. Delete those yourself if you want them gone.

What people say.

Nothing appears here until it is approved, and a verified badge means the address matches a real licence. We do not write these.

What changed

Every release, written down.

Each app keeps its own history, and the same text appears inside the app under What's New. Updates are free for the life of the app.
