End-to-end encrypted cloud storage on a Mac

Files encrypted on your Mac, so the server never sees what they are.

7 days free, no card. macOS 14 or later.

What end to end means for your files

Most cloud storage asks you to trust that nobody on the other end will look at your contracts, photos or code. End-to-end encryption removes the need for that trust: the file is locked on your Mac before it uploads, and only your own devices hold the key, so the company storing it sees encrypted bytes and nothing else.

Two ways to get it on a Mac

  • iCloud with Advanced Data Protection. Apple's own option: turn it on in your Apple Account settings and iCloud Drive, among most of iCloud, is end-to-end encrypted. It is built in and reaches your iPhone too. You need a recovery contact or a recovery key, since Apple can no longer help you back in.
  • Crest Cloud. This is storage you use from the notch. You keep a file or folder by dropping it there and get it back on any Mac signed in to your account. Names and contents are encrypted on your Mac, so our server sees only sizes and dates.

How Crest Cloud keeps it yours

  • Only your keys open it. Your Macs and your recovery key can unlock your files, and your account password on its own can't.
  • Every part is checked as it uploads and again as it comes back, so a damaged file never slips through quietly.
  • Download everything is free once every 90 days on any plan, so leaving is never a hostage situation.

Questions5
Can Crest see my files?

No. Names and contents are encrypted on your Mac, so our server sees only sizes and dates.

What if I lose my Mac?

Another of your Macs, or your recovery key, unlocks your Cloud. Without either, nobody can open the files, us included.

What happens after the free week?

If you don't pick a plan, your Cloud files stay readable for 14 more days so you can download them, and then they're deleted.

Does Crest Cloud sync a folder like iCloud Drive?

No. You keep files from the notch and take them back when you need them, on any Mac signed in to your account.

Is there an iPhone app?

Not yet. Crest Cloud opens on any Mac signed in to your account.
